The Story of Bridges to Learning

Bridges to Learning Montessori House of Children was established in 2012 with a simple yet meaningful vision — to give little children the best beginnings in a loving, nurturing, and carefully prepared environment. What began as a humble initiative has grown into a trusted Montessori community serving families in Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte and surrounding areas.

The school was founded by Ms. Deshika Senadira, an educator deeply influenced by both Sri Lankan and U.S. Montessori traditions. She earned her Montessori Diploma from the Good Shepherd Maria Montessori Institution, one of the world’s renowned Montessori training centers, and later pursued a Degree in Psychology with a concentration in Child Psychology from Ramapo College of New Jersey, USA. With years of teaching experience in Montessori schools across Sri Lanka and New Jersey, Ms. Deshika returned home with a vision to create a space where children could learn, explore, and grow in an environment that celebrates their individuality and natural curiosity.

At Bridges to Learning, we offer authentic Montessori education for children ages 2 to 5, where each classroom is carefully prepared to support social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. We also provide daycare services, giving working parents the peace of mind that their children are cared for in a safe and loving setting. In addition, our after-school program supports school-aged children with transportation, nutritious lunches, and one-on-one homework assistance to help them stay on track academically while enjoying a warm, home-like atmosphere.

Affectionately known as “Aunty Deshika”, Ms. Senadira and her team of dedicated teachers treat every child as their own, creating a community built on love, consistency, and respect. Over the past decade, Bridges to Learning has earned the trust of countless families, building strong, positive relationships and establishing a reputation as one of the most caring Montessori institutions in Sri Lanka.
